今週、年に一度の健康診断に行ってきました。残念なことに私は血圧が高めです。さらに悪いことに健康診断のために病院に行くと、いつもよりも数値が上がります。「今年は正常値におさめたい！」と強く念じながら、病院に着いてからも目を閉じて深呼吸を繰り返していました。いよいよ血圧測定です。数値は…今年も若干高めでした…。その後何回か計り直していただきましたが、大きく下がることはありませんでした。

一通りの検査が終わって、最後に担当医との面談がありました。そこで先生から言われた言葉にドキッとさせられました。

「あなたはすでに健康的な生活を心かげてこられたようですね…。ただ、ストレスには気をつけてください。毎日瞑想をする時間を持つといいでしょう。」

確かにここ数年、食生活や定期的な運動などを心かげてきました。しかし、それだけではまだ十分ではなかったのです。「瞑想の時間」すなわち、心を静かにして神様を交わる時間をもっとたっぷり取ることが、忙しくまた強いストレスにさらされる私たちには必要なのだと健康診断を通して改めて気づかされました。

イエス様のライフスタイルの中に、秘訣があります。

朝早くまだ暗いうちに、イエスは起きて、人里離れた所へ出て行き、そこで祈っておられた。（新約聖書　マルコによる福音書1:35　新共同訳）

イエス様は、神様との静かな交わりの時間を毎朝守っておられました。その時間を持つことが、イエス様のエネルギーの源だったのです。私もこのイエス様の生活を模範として、毎日の神様との静かな交わりの時間を大切にしていきたいと思います。

I went to medical checkup this week. Unfortunately, the number of my blood pressure is little bit high. Especially, when I go to the hospital it will be higher than usual.

On that day, I kept telling myself “be calm down” and I did deep breathing.

How was the result? The number of blood pressure of mine was higher than standard number.

I met a doctor after all the exams were over and she told me,

“I know that you have already improved your lifestyle. But I just want to tell you that please be careful your stress. Having time for meditation everyday might be good for your stress”.

Certainly, I have improved my lifestyle in recent years. But I realized that it was not enough for my health.

I need more time to spend with God to withstand stress. Jesus have shown the key that how can we withstand stress.

And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed. And Simon and those who were with him searched for him, and they found him and said to him, “Everyone is looking for you.” And he said to them, “Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also, for that is why I came out.” And he went throughout all Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and casting out demons(Mark 1:35-39 ESV).

Jesus have kept the time every morning spending time with his father during his life. It was origin of his strength. I would like to follow his lifestyle. It will make me healthier than now.

10月21日、八王子教会で「素マイルフォト撮影会」が持たれました。プロカメラマンの方のご厚意で、普通では考えられないような値段で撮影をしていただくことが出来ました。私も写真を撮っていただいたのですが、生まれて初めての経験でした。

私たちは、カメラが自分に向けられると緊張します。そんな私たちの心理をよく理解しているカメラマンの方が、上手に私たちの緊張を和らげ、自然な笑顔を引きだしてくださって和やかな雰囲気の撮影会になりました。

「写真」は、「真実を写す」と書きますが、撮影された写真に良くも悪くもそのときの自分の本当の姿があらわれます。「笑顔をつくらなきゃ！」と意識しすぎるとかえって不自然な表情になってしまいます。鏡で自分の顔を見るとき、どうしても自分の欠点や気になる部分ばかりに目がいってしまう傾向があるそうです。自然な表情で写真を撮ってもらうには、被写体になる自分が、まず自分自身を受け入れていることが必要なのだと気づかされました。

聖書に次のように書かれています。

『あなたの隣人をあなた自身のように愛せよ。』（新約聖書　マタイによる福音書22：39　新改訳）

「隣人を愛する」ためには、まず「自分自身を愛する」（受け入れる）必要があります。自分自身を受け入れることが出来ないとき、私たちは本当の意味で他者を愛し受け入れることが出来ないのです。神様によって造られ、ありのままで愛されている自分自身を、感謝し受け入れられたら、もっと自然体で豊かな生き方が出来るのかもしれません。

「素マイルフォト撮影会」は、自分自身を見つめ直すよい機会になりました。

私たち人間は、もらうことが好きです。自分が何かを犠牲にして人に与えることよりも、誰かから何かを受け取ることを好みます。確かに、何かを受け取ること・与えられることは嬉しいことですが、自分が受け取るだけで、他者に一切何も与えないことが幸せかというと、決してそうではないように思います。

「死海」は、イスラエルとヨルダンにまたがる地域に広がる湖です。その名前の通り、高すぎる塩分濃度のためにほとんどの生物が生息できない「死の湖」として知られています。死海は海抜マイナス418メートルと低い場所にあるため、ヨルダン川からの水が流れ込む一方、死海から水が他の場所に流れ出ることがありません。蒸発するのみです。その結果、湖水の塩分濃度が上昇し、「死の海」になってしまったのです。

パウロはエフェソ教会の長老たちとの別れに際して、自分の行動の原則となったイエス様の言葉を紹介して次のように言いました。

あなたがたもこのように働いて弱い者を助けるように、また、主イエス御自身が『受けるよりは与える方が幸いである』と言われた言葉を思い出すようにと、わたしはいつも身をもって示してきました。

「受けるよりは与える方が幸い」という言葉が真実であることを本当に知るのは、実際に与える生き方をした人だけです。自分のために命を与えてくださったイエス様と出会ったパウロは、この出会いによって人生が変えられました。そして、彼もこのイエス様の生き方にならう者へと作り変えられたのです。私たちもこの「幸い」を体験する者となりたいものです。

I like to receive something from others. When I receive a gift for my birthday, I feel happy. Giving something to others involves sacrifice. Often it is difficult. However, it is not happy not to give anything to others just by receiving it.

“Dead sea” is one of the famous place in the world. Many traveler are visiting there every year.

Water in that lake can’t live there because of salinity too high. The Dead Sea is at a minus 418 meters above sea level. The water of the Jordan River flows into it, but there is no other river to way out there. Moisture evaporates. As a result, it became “sea of death”.

When the apostle Paul left Ephesus’ church, he said to the elders.

In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”(Acts 20:35 ESV)

Only people who live like that can understand the word “It is more blessed to give than to receive”.

Paul’s life was changed by encounter with Jesus. He have met who gave own life for him. Then he began to live like Jesus.

I strongly hope that we also want to change our life same as Paul. I want to experience that “It is more blessing to give than to receive” in my life.

甲府教会では、10月13日の安息日に献児式そして追悼会を行います。献児式とは、誕生した新しい命がその家族と教会への神様からの贈り物であることを覚え、神様の助けをいただきながらその命を愛し育んで行くことを誓う式です。

追悼会では、共に神様を礼拝するために教会に集っていた仲間の死を悼み、しかし神様がその方との出会いを与えてくださったことに感謝し、聖書が約束する復活と再会の約束を確認します。

はからずも、命の「誕生」そして「死」という２つの出来事を同じ日に心に覚えることになりました。教会は神の家族です。家族には赤ちゃんもいれば、おじいちゃんおばあちゃんもいます。家族みんなが元気に過ごせている日々もあれば、家族の誰かが病に苦しみ、回復のためにみんなが心を合わせて祈り続ける日もあります。

天が下のすべての事には季節があり、すべてのわざには時がある。生るるに時があり、死ぬるに時があり、植えるに時があり、植えたものを抜くに時があり、…神のなされることは皆その時にかなって美しい。神はまた人の心に永遠を思う思いを授けられた。それでもなお、人は神のなされるわざを初めから終りまで見きわめることはできない。

「生」も「死」も私たちの人生の現実です。すべての人が「生」「死」の当事者です。私たちは「死」というこの厳しい現実を前に全く無力な存在です。しかし、「天が下のすべての事には時があり、神のなされることは皆その時にかなって美しい」というこの聖書の言葉に、私は慰めを与えられる思いがします。神様が与えられた新しい命に、神様の祝福が注がれますように。そして愛する人を亡くし、深い悲しみの中にある方々に神様の特別の慰めが注がれますように。

Child dedication and memorial service will be held at the Kofu church on Sabbath Oct 13. We pray for God blessing for new baby and the family at child dedication. Not only that, we remember that God gave this precious lives for the family and church through this child dedication service.

We mourn for the death of who we worshiped together through memorial service. Then we remember hope of promise that God gave us.

We did not intend to make these two ceremonies the same day. But I think it is meaningful thing for us.

Actually, church is God’s family. There are babies and elders in family.

Sometimes everyone is fine, sometimes there are sick people in our family.

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:a time to be born, and a time to die; He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end(Ecclesiastes 3:1,2,11 ESV). 

Both “life” and “death” are reality of our life. There is no one exception on that. However, I can receive comfort from God through these Scriptures. He knows better than I.

May God bless new baby and family. And I pray God comfort the people who are facing deep sorrow.

例年秋は台風シーズンと言われますが、今年は例年以上に台風が日本列島を襲っています。先日の台風24号の接近に伴い、八王子市内でもかなりの強風と豪雨に見舞われました。10月1日0時過ぎには、最大瞬間風速45.6メートルが観測されました。これは八王子市における過去最大の数値だそうです。

家の中にいても、まるで地震が起きたかのような揺れをたびたび感じました。不安な気持ちで一夜を過ごしましたが、日が昇る頃には風も穏やかになり、ほっと一息つくことが出来ました。

自宅と教会の周辺に被害がなかったか確認すると、教会の外に置かれていた2つの物置のうち、小さな物置が風で倒れていました。より風当たりの強い場所に置かれていた大きい物置が気になりましたが、こちらは無事でした。

大きい物置は地面に固定されていましたが、小さな物置は固定されていませんでした。普段は両者の違いは気になりませんが、強い風が吹いたときにその違いがあらわれました。

イエス様が語られた次のような例え話が思い出されます。

それで、わたしのこれらの言葉を聞いて行うものを、岩の上に自分の家を建てた賢い人に比べることができよう。雨が降り、洪水が押し寄せ、風が吹いてその家に打ちつけても、倒れることはない。岩を土台としているからである。

イエス様は、しっかりとした土台に根差して生きる人を「わたしのこれらの言葉を聞いて行うもの」と呼んでおられます。自然災害に限らず、信頼できると思っていたものがある日突然崩れ去ってしまうような混乱の時代に私たちは生きています。そんな時代だからこそ、決して揺らぐことのない確かなものの上に土台を据えて生きることが出来ますように。

Autumn is the typhoon season in Japan. This fall, more typhoons came to Japan than usual. The typhoon “Trami”(24^th typhoon of 2018) were quite strong. On that day, the maximum wind speed here was 45.6m/s.

I often felt sway like as quake when the typhoon was coming here. I spent the night with an uneasy feelings, but the wind was stopped before the next morning. The next morning I checked around the church. There are two sheds behind the church.

One of these were standing as usual. But another one were fell over because of a strong wind.

What was the difference between of them?

One shed was firmly fixed to the ground. But the other was just put on the ground.

We do not usually notice the difference between them. However, when a strong wind blows, those differences become apparent.

I remembered the parable that Jesus have taught.

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock(Matthew 7:24,25 ESV). 

Jesus called the man who listens to his words “a wise man who has built his house on the rock.”

Nowadays, the things that we were trusted on are collapsing. I wish that all of us hear the words of Jesus and accept the life that follows it. I believe that it is the solid rock and foundation God has prepared for us.
